Interdisaplinary

Before we were set the brief we were set a task in which we had to choose a definition, disipline and a technique. I decided to go with biology, textiles and fuse. I chose coral reef for my for my chosen biological state of change. After I had done my samples I realised they were to busy, I wanted to focus on one specific area to reach the point of designing my skirt.
From researching in to the artist Han Feng and other research I knoew I wanted to create my skirt form individual less detailed textile samples which I could combine together and make my skirt. I got this idea from the biological changes in coral reef; as each individual coral comes together to form the reef. The sample I chose was puffs.
From looking at photos from Austraila and the sea life centre, i felt that I wanted to incorporate texture on to the garment, so i did a sample which proved to be successful and looked really good however it took to long and i would have been tryin to compleate in next year, so i used fabric paint instead of embroidary to see if it looked the same and it did it was raised, textured and colourful. so i then used this one my garment.
i now just need to sort the shape out on my garment and how i was going to fuse together the samples. I decided to look at the shapes of mermaids and how there bodies were structured. I resulted to choosing their bodies; having it tight around the hips (with no waist band as i wanted it to look as if it was attached to them.) to just above the knee and then sprawling out onwards. i chose to keep the shape of samples to be the same untill it sprawled out.
Overall i have reallly enjoyed this project, however i feel i could have done better, if i had less time off with my back and numerous doctors appointments, and not missing lessons would have kept me on track.

PPD- 3rd year
Ive actually enjoyed working with my third year, i was pretty nervous to start off with and didnt know what to expect, but it was great. I didnt get to much practical work it was mainly fetching fabric etc from shops, but i did get to look at her work ... which was soooo good! Also talk about the pathways which was a great help, i think both pathways would be challenging as is most projects but i think working with my third year i have had such inspriation from her work and different ways she has put things together has made me want to choose her pathway. =D

Crafts package
I have finished my crafts package now quite pleased with it. I have taken a picture of my skirt close up printed it off and cut it into a square and laminated it to make my swingtag. I have wrote on it the price and size of it and care instructions.
I have also decided on a hanger to hand my skirt up. it will have the same puffs i had on my skirt plus the name of it Bespoke.

Back from break
I have made all of my samples, but after getting a bit confused on the task, i just thought the samples had to be mounted onto A3 boards not that they had to be A3 size. I had spent quite long on them all as they all had different techniques in them, so im going to make them A3 now as most of them were A4 or less.
Our new brief we have to make a maxi skirt... this is realy exciting because i have never made one before so i have to start doing more research so i can design my maxi skirt.
